REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The results of a survey of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2012 put the natural beauty of Indonesia ranked sixth in the world.
"We said that this year's ranking is based on the results of a survey of Indonesian tourism rose four WEF rankings, from 74th position in 2011 to the position of the world 70 the world in 2012," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Mari Elka Pangestu in Jakarta on Monday.
"It is more proud of is Indonesia was ranked sixth for the beauty of nature," he said.
According to Mari, this is a huge capital to develop tourism because everyone knows that the most beautiful beach and ocean in the world is in Indonesia.
"Some time ago we managed to amaze visitors ITB Berlin 2013 by featuring replica ship Phinisi as an attraction and an icon of Indonesian Pavilion," said Mari.
He argued, was a form of synergy of tourism and creative economy is very positive to boost the pride of Indonesia as a nation that has had a tradition and maritime history dating back thousands of years ago.
It is committed to develop seven thematic tour (special interest) and three of which are strongly associated with the beach and sea (nature tourism and ecotourism, sports tourism and recreation, and sightseeing cruises).
"However, this thematic tourism development requires support cooperation with other ministries and local governments," he said.
He added, optimal thematic tourism development is expected to boost tourism ranked Indonesia in the coming years.
